CHRIS FOREMAN INTERVIEW
NUTTY BOYS / CRUNCH
February 1994

Skanews : "Have you changed your name ?"

Chris : "We are thinking of changing our name all the time, beacause Lee never liked it and we never expected the other Nutty Boys to reform. We may change it to Crunch"

Skanews : "You plans for 1994"

Chris : "Change the name and doing some writing and recording"

Skanews : "Any new record and on whet label ?"

Chris : "We are strating our own label, which will probably to called Magic Carpet Records"

Skanews : "Is it a handicap to be well known as ex-Madness ?"

Chris : "Well, early on some promoters used to use the two tone man and even pictures of Madness to advertise our concerts which was very annoying. In fact, i had our agency put it in our contract for concerts that people couldn't use the M word !"

Skanews : "Are the other members writing songs ?"

Chris : "Tad has writen some good tunes but he always sends to me but it's Lee who write the lyrics ! I think it will happen in time, Spider is very talented and has done some really good stuff at his house on an 8-track recorder."

Skanews : "Your views on Crunch album 4 years later..."

Chris : "I am still quite pleased with it, the only songs i would change are "People", "Daydreamers" and You Got It" and that is only very small changes to the mix. Of course, those songs sound much better with a live band, but we did'nt have one at the time. We may record some of them again one day."

Skanews : "How do you gat on with the other members of the band ?"

Chris : "I don't see them much, Louis Lives near me and i see him the most. He is good compagny. I speak to Lee quite often but don't really go out with him much as i am now married with a "petit garçon" (a boy called Felix). But on a personal level, i find them a most charming bunch of people."

Skanews : "New Madness material soon ?"

Chris : "We spent the lest three months of 1993 writing together, but did'nt really come up with anything as good as we have done in the past. This does'nt mean it was "merde" (crap). In fact, it was pretty good compared to the crap you hear on the radio these days. It's difficuelt to get 7 people back together and expect it to be the same as it used to be. Since then, Woody has a great band called Fat (who play in France in december 93), which is sort of Grunge Glam. Suggs is working with Mike and Carl may do some stuff with Mark Bedford."

Skanews : "Is it hard to choose beetween a Madness or Nutty Boys song ?"

Chris : "The Madness boys were after some of our songs but Suggs ans Mike had some of their own that they wanted to keep for themselves, too. I did my best to work hard in coming up with ideas but it was "tres difficile" (hard)

Skanews : "Any message for your French fans ?"

Chris : "I didn't know we had any ! Still, if there are any out there, i would say thanks for supporting us !
